Silly Maddi

On Tuesday because I had to take Kayley to the doctor and then I had a doctors appointment I was a little behind at work. I was able to do some work from home and I let the girls watch a movie. I was printing and concentrating on work when all of a sudden I hear Maddi's laugh from behind me. So I turned around and what to my wondering eyes would appear but a little baby hugging her farm set and laughing. She was so funny. She must have brought over the basket all be herself because Kayley did not move from the movie. That's my baby!

Kayley Update

I just wanted to update you on Kayley. On Monday when I came home, Dannette realized that Kayley may have a UTI. I was a little sad to think that the reason she may gone through the night without an accident was because she was not feeling good.I am hoping that this has given her a little confidence that she can indeed sleep all night without the diaper. Tuesday morning I took Kayley to the doctor and she confirmed the UTI. Poor Kayley, the only way I could get her off the potty was to let her wear a pull-up. Well that was a mistake. Then the only thing she wanted to wear was a pull-up and did not want to go to the actual potty. I did managed to get her out of the pull-up and into panties. Then last night she slept in just her panties and she didn't have an accident. I was so proud of her. We put another sticker on the calendar counting down the days until she gets a surprise (I have no idea what it will be). She was very happy and proud of herself. But then after she had woken up a bit more she wouldn't get off the potty again. This afternoon Kayley has been in nothing but panties and has stayed out of the potty. I think mostly because I have kept her very busy playing! We will see what happens tonight. Cross your fingers!

Big Week for Kayley

This is going to be a very big week for Kayley. She has been potty trained for about a year and ½ but we have always put her in a diaper at bed time. I guess I thought that Kayley would just start having dry diapers and we could just stop putting one on her but that has never happened. Over the last two months Kayley has asked on occasion if she could wear her panties to bed. We told her OK but then she had to use the potty before bed and she couldn’t have anything to drink and she has always replied I want a diaper. So this weekend she was very adamant about wearing her panties to bed so we said OK. I was secretly hoping that this would be the end of diapers for her but at the same time a little sad because now she would be too big for diapers and she would not be a baby at ALL! Saturday night she had several accidents and woke up crying because she doesn’t like have accidents. I had to hug her and tell her it was normal and OK. I told her how proud we were of her for trying and I made sure she knew we were not mad or angry. Sunday night she really wanted to wear a diaper because she was afraid of having an accident. I really wanted to encourage her to wear panties so I told her if she wore panties this whole week on Saturday she would get a special surprise. I even told her several times that it didn’t matter if she had an accident because all that mattered was that she was trying. She was still a little hesitant about trying the panties so I told her she had two options, one she could wear panties or two she could wear pull ups that have the cool warning that we thought might help wake her up. She chose panties on her own. The pull ups even had Princesses on them so I was a little surprised. She slept through the whole night without waking me up. After I was ready for work I went into Kayley’s room fully expecting that she would have had an accident but she was dry. I couldn’t contain myself, I was so happy for her. I had to wake her up and tell her. She woke up in a daze but realized she had to use the potty and on the way to the potty turned to look at me and said “I am a big girl, I didn’t have and accident Mama”. It was so sweet! I am just crossing my fingers that she will continue to have accident free nights because I don’t think my heart can take the sad crying face at 2:00 am when she calls for me telling me she has had an accident. It is worse then any other sad upset face that Kayley has because it is like she knows she isn’t supposed to have an accident and she has let us down or something. It makes me cry when I see it! My baby isn’t a baby anymore! This is a very happy sad day for me!

Fishing

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Krueger's for dinner. Mr. Man gave Kayley a fishing pole to play with in their pool. Well ever since then it has been fishing this and fishing that! You know how Kayley is, she only stops talking to take a breath. Frank finally broke down last weekend and bought her and himself a fishing pole and a license. So this morning we decided to take Kayley and Maddi fishing out the Litchfield Park community lake. It was more for Kayley because I am too chicken to let Maddi out of the stroller. However, Maddi was able to have fun too. Details to come shortly. Anyway, so Frank baited Kayley's fishing pole which just happened to be a princess fish pole which I am sure is no surprise to anyone and was showing her how to reel it in. Then he would cast it for her and let her sit with it. How cute are they? Frank was showing Kayley and teaching her that she really just had to sit with her pole. Not keep reeling it in and casting it out again. That is such a hard concept for a 3 year old. So I went to sit next to Kayley to keep her company and try to keep her from picking up the pole. Then Kayley did finally reel it in and I casted it for her. You should have seen the look on Franks face! It was priceless. At least I know that after 8 years together I can still shock and impress my husband. He didn't know I could cast a fishing pole even though I told him my parents took us camping and fishing a lot as kids. Needless to say Frank was very impressed by my fishing ability. Princess Fishing pole $15, Fishing license $18, Seeing the look on my husbands face as I casted Kayley's pole in the lake, Priceless. So while all of this is going on we were just keeping our eye on Maddi and Kayley was really entertaining her when I look over to see this --- Frank and I were laughing so hard. Maddi finally had her first drink of soda and Kayley was upset because she knew it was Mommy's and she was not aloud any. But as Frank and I could not stop laughing Kayley quickly got over it and kept trying to give it to Maddi. This was another perfect and eventful day in the Maya Household.

My Baby Princess

Kayley was playing outside this morning so I decided to put Maddi in her little ballerina outfit to try and get some cute pictures. Maddi was so excided. She was a cute little ham for my picture session. Of couse all good things have to come to an end. I don't even remember why she stared crying but it was funny (I know I am a bad Mommy). Look at this face! And if you look hard you can see two of three new teeth.

Our Saturday

As we woke up on Saturday we started out with such great adventures. First I was delivered this package. I tried to send it back but there was a no return policy. Then my package stated making silly faces at me. I begged to return it but they said all sales were final. After I unloaded my package, she turned her room turned into NASA and the laundry basket was her rocket ship. I just wonder what world she wanted to go too. Look at Maddi's pretty smile. I think I remember Kayley's similar smile when she was about this age. Oh the pictures I have to look forward too. I was then able to escape from the Maya world for a few hours of painting and shopping with Amy. Some times all I need is about 5-6 hrs of peace and quite and I should be good for another 2-3 months. While I was out I did pick up these cute new shooes. I didn't even look for anything for the girls. I returned just in time to make the rest of the macaroni salad for dinner and play princess hop scotch in the back yard while waiting for the pork ribs to grill. A GREAT day!

Kayley's Favorite Things

Tomorrow Kayley will be taking this poster board to school to show her class. It did not turn out the way I really pictured in my head but I think it is cute. Kayley was defiantly excited when I showed it to her. She kept saying, “Do I get to take that to school?” “My teachers are going to be so happy”. I started to review the board with her and I got to “The MAN” Kayley promptly corrected me and said “No, the SNOWMAN”. If she does that it class I am sure she will be a hit. I just wish I could go and be a fly on the wall to watch her talk about the pictures. I knew that if I even went she would be over exaggerating or she wouldn’t say much at all. At least I can get the scoop from her teachers!

All about Maddi

Because Kayley can talk and sass and argue she gets a little more attention than Maddi. Kayley is also able to tell us what she wants and needs so she mostly gets what she wants when she wants it. But then there is Maddi, sweet, quite, polite little Maddi. She is just waiting to make her debut. Maddi has to be one of the most polite 17 month old babies there is. When you hand her something she says “Thank You”. And when she wants something she says please or I should say “ease”. She is having a hard time with the P sound. She can now answer you when you want her to come. She says “OK Mama”. She is the first one in line for dinner. She is now trying to get into her highchair by herself. She waves and says “bye, bye Daddy”. When Nanny is walking for the door and Maddi sees her she comes running and yelling “Wait, Nanny”. Maddi is so cuddly! I love it! If you are sitting she wants to be in your lap especially if you are on the floor. Or if you are just standing she will come and give you big hugs on your legs until you pick her up. She loves to give kisses and hugs. However, I believe that this is just the calm before the storm. For example, this weekend she learned how to climb up on the twin bed we have in her room. Well this bed stands about 2 ½ feet off the ground. So of course she went in time out for it. I would tell her why she was in time out. I would tell her that the bed was a no, no, no. You know my whole spiel. But every time she gets out of time out right back for the bed and then right back in time out. So after about the 8-9th time I take her out of time out, tell her the bed is no, no, no and then leave the room. But this time I turned right around to walk back down the hall and I just wish I had a picture for what I saw. Maddi looks out the door (in that lounge stance, like is anyone around) and then looks up right at me. The look on her face was priceless. She just froze in that stance. I had to bite my tongue from laughing. I looked at her and told her, “you better get you happy little butt in the living room”. I have never seen her move so fast! She bolted for the living room and her sister. I looked in the living room (after I could hold a straight face) and she was sitting right next to her sister. Maddi is just waiting and biding her time until she unleashes her true self into the Maya household chaos.

I love holidays! It doesn’t matter what holiday it is, I love it! I love decorating my house for each holiday. I know my loving husband also loves it (yes the proper response would be – ya right). I really do know that my kids love it! And as Amy put it so well in the book she made me, I LOVE to decorate my KIDS for holidays! I love it! There are just no other words! So falling in line with my tradition of matching shirts, I found oh so cute and oh so pink Valentines Day shirts that say Mommy’s Little Heart Breaker on them. Unfortunately they only had pants in Kayley’s size and not Maddi’s. But Look at those pants! And Kayley LOVES them! I think she is going to be a funky dresser when she gets older. She loves the Halloween pants with orange and black stripes, she adores her spider web pants that are now too small but she doesn’t care and she is just insane about her Christmas pants that are red, pink and white stripped. She wears those more than any other clothes in the dresser.
I wanted to take some different pictures so I let the girls outside. Big mistake, BIG, Huge! As I was putting my shoes on I start yelling ‘Don’t go in the sand box as I look up and they are at the edge of the sand box. Good timing on my part! Kayley says why not?? I told her I wanted some pretty pictures of her and Maddi in their new cute outfits. To her response, “OH, OK Mommy!” Man, I love her! Kayley was very cooperative but Maddi was not. She wanted to play and could not understand why I wanted her to sit with her sister. Hence the very disgusted look on her face. This was the first pic I took. I was able to get the better ones later. But I thought this one was classic.
Kayley was very sweet in her posing even if it was for a very short time I think I was able to get some cute pics of her.
Then for what ever reason, Maddi found a rock and came over and sat down. She was very excited about this rock! Had I known how much joy a rock would bring to her life, I could have just given her a bag of rocks from the back yard instead of the cute, soft kissing gorilla.
Before all of the picture taking we cut out special cookies for Daddy as his Valentine’s Day present. He was very happy to see these when he came home. The cards were also colored earlier this week by both Maddi and Kayley. The cutest thing was when O asked Kayley what the inside of Daddy’s Card should say she said “I wish I may, I wish I might, Love you forever”. It was just so cute. I only added one line the make the card rhyme (sort of). Frank was very happy to hear that story because it made the card even more special.

Pretty Toes and Hands

Sunday morning I was cleaning and doing laundry. Kayley and Maddi were so good that I was starting to get a little worried when the noise level dropped. I would go find them and almost each time they were in a different room reading books. It just made my heart smile. After lunch I put Maddi down for a nap and I painted Kayley’s nails. I started to pull out the nail polish I have and asked her which color she wanted. She kept saying purple then pink and red. I said No Kayley just one color for your toes and one for your hands. So she said purple. Then she said pink. So I decided to paint them all four colors since she could not make up her mind. As I was painting she looked at me confused and said “Mommy you didn’t color two of my toes” I had to tell her to wait because I was going to make them pretty. Then she saw me get the pink color out and I though she was going to jump up and down in excitement. She told me over and over “Mommy they are so pretty”. I them painted her nails in red and pink and received the same reaction. I had to tell her to calm down because she was going to get nail polish all over her ballerina outfit (yes she was still in her ballerina out fit). She immediately stopped and sat very still. We then picked out flowers and she got a different color flower and each hand and foot. After we were done with her she told me I had to do mine. So I was just going to paint my toes but Kayley insisted on me painting my hands too. After I started to paint my hand she got up and left. I was think, hey what’s up with that as she came back in and said “Mommy I come keep you company”. I just about died. Then she said “So Mommy how was your day at work”. I am sorry “how old are you again”. It was so funny. I knew where the “how was your day” came from because that what we talk about at the dinner table but where did the “I came to keep you company” come from?

Valentine's Day Cards

Kayley’s preschool class is having a Valentine's Day Party. So last week I took Kayley to target and let her pick out the cards she wanted to give. At first she wanted to give these Disney Princess gift boxes. I was having a hard time not laughing but for 19 kids at 2.99 a pop, I don’t think so. So after I figured out that she can not choose her own I found two that fit her perfect. One was (of course) the Disney Princesses and the other was Barbie Island Princess. I was actually surprised to watch her choose the Barbie Island Princess. I kept asking her, “Are you sure” and I kept getting the same response “Yes Mama”. Ok then. On Sunday I decided it would be a good day to put them together. Kayley’s teachers gave us a list of the kids name in the class and out the names in big boxes with the suggestion at the top – Let you child cut out the names and glue onto the Valentine’s. I was thinking that was a great idea. Kayley was so cute watching her cut the names out. She was concentrating so hard. But then I would hear “Who’s name is that Mommy?” I think she was trying to find her friends. The funniest thing was when we she trying to find a little boy name Conner. She kept asking me where his name was. So I would show her but then she would point to another name and ask if that was Conner. I had to pull his name out of the stack and put it off to the side just to stop the questions. I then let her glue the names on. All I did was put the valentines in front of her and show her which way the name should face. If she had the name facing the wrong way she would get all upset. “OH NO Mommy! Fix it, Fix it”. So I would turn it around and she would just be happy and a clam again. As you can tell, she has not taken off her ballerina outfit for about two days.

Ballerina

Last weekend when I went to Wal-Mart I saw that they had three isles of clearance toys. So of course I looked. I am always on the lookout for new toys at a bargain price and Kayley's birthday is right around the corner. Well I found three dress up outfits that were priced incorrectly by a roll back sticker not someone else trying to just move the price tag. So I scanned them and they did not come up to the roll back price. I was a little upset because it was very misleading and right then a Wal-Mart associate walked by. I took her to the isle and showed her the prices. She told me they had to honor the roll back prices. WAHOOOOO! I was so happy because I knew that Kayley's Snow White outfit had seen better days! So I bought a Barbie ballerina outfit (shown in pictures), a beautiful Sleeping Beauty outfit and a Barbie Island princess outfit (to be shown at a latter date) for $5.00 each!!!! Yes I said $5.00. I think they took the stickers down as soon they checked me out because the Sleeping Beauty dress was supposed to be $19.97 on clearance. This morning when Kayley woke up she wanted to dress in her Snow White dress. We had to tell her no because it was really dirty from yesterday. She was very sad. So at 7:00 am I got out her ballerina outfit for her to wear. She was very excited. Because she was so happy I fixed her hair in a bun and took out my camera. As soon as she saw the camera she turned into my little ham. She was smiling and twirling and was just adorable. She was so cute I just wanted to pick up and snuggle her. I am so happy that she has gotten out of the "you will not take a smiling picture of me" phase. She also makes sure I take pictures of Maddi. She told me "Mommy, take one of me being so pretty and then one of Maddi"

Sandbox Princesses

When I came home this afternoon, Nanny told me we had a little accident right before I got home. Kayley didn't make it to the potty because she was playing too hard and forgot. So when I got home Kayley was in her princess outfit. She didn't want to come inside because they were playing and having so much fun. I said what the heck that outfit is pretty dirty anyway. The girls were so cute playing in the sand together. OH and the conversations. You should have heard them chatting back and forth! I couldn't follow it but they seamed to be on the same page.

My Six Tooth Wonder

Maddi has had six teeth for at least the last six to seven months. I was starting to worry because she was having a hard time gumming her food. Yes gumming her food. She stopped eating the meat I was giving her because they were little cubes. So now I have to shred her food so she will eat it all. Then I saw it! My little six tooth wonder would soon be my seven tooth wonder (which doesn’t sound as cute I know). I was so excited for her. I was also excited because you would never know that she was teething because she is not fussy at all. But then I saw the other one in the back of her mouth. She is really going to be my eight tooth wonder (still not as cute). Then it occurred to me she is not getting her teeth in order, this could be a little scary. We will have to wait and see. I will have to ask her doctor about it in March. Look at this little face. Man she looks like she is going to be trouble very soon!

Chocolate Affair

Saturday Amy, Dannette and myself took the girls to the Glendale ChocolateAffair in Downtown Glendale. There was almost anything you could ever want dipped in chocolate. We started out by making a chocolate pizza. We have melted milk chocolate, marshmellows, peanutbutter chips and mint chips covered in white chocolate. How good does that sound??? Kayley wasn't too sure about the pizza making. She didn't understand why she couldn't eat it right then and there. After we told her she couldn't eat it she was very unhappy! So we decided to get her something dipped in chocolate. The girls settled for a chocolate covered creampuff kabob. I think they managed to choke them down. Especially Maddi who decided I was feeding her too slow and just took the rest of the creampuff from me to feed herself. While I went to buy some fudge, Amy stayed and watched the girls at the stroller. She let the big one loose and just look at the cute pictures she took of them. We then went to the Cerreta's Factory. There they had a HUGE chocolate football.
